CommCell ID:FFFFFFFF    Name:gzcvcs01    Version:11.32.35    Commvault platform release:2023E

I retired the client sqlserver-vm when my client is powered off, and delete it.

so it no longer display on my Client Computers list

but when I powered on my client, the agent is still on my client.

but when i add new client from CommCell Console, it doesn’t show the agent and subclient

Hello @Shaw

Retiring the client will uninstall CV when the communication is established, up and running with the client.

If you are looking out to re-take the backups now with your current situation, is the client details matching on commcell matching with “simpana status” output on the client machine?

You can attempt the following if it matches:

> Make sure the client and commserve and vice versa are able to connect each other with cvping on port 8400, 8403.

> Restart the CV services on the client machine.

> Release and re-add the license and then refresh client computers page and confirm if the agent type now shows up. If it does not, try to add it by right clicking > All tasks > Create backup set and see if that’s populating the agent.

> If the above backup set creation causes an error, review the EvMgrS.log on commserve.

Best,

Rajiv Singal

@Shaw ,

If you are looking forward to use any of the backups taken against the retired client.
Kindly disable data aging, until the client is up and running.

If not the backup related to client will be aged and pruned. Once done you may uninstall agent locally and reinstall and register with existing client and refresh the console and it should be up for you.

from my client it shows CS info, it still registered to CommServe Server, but from CommCell Console, I Retired and delete it, and readd and reconfigure it, but it shows nothing on it, it looks like the client added isn’t my client.

can’t I just recover it pls

@Shaw

You need to uninstall commvault agent completely from the client machine first and reinstall it back with whatever client name you see on the Commcell console.

If the old data is not required then you need to delete the client on the console first and uninstall agent from client and re configure as fresh new client.

HI @Shaw

Did you delete the Client in Commcell Console?

If you are not deleting it, can you check the certificates for that Client and remove them.

I downloaded the file and could notice only download lines
is this push installation done from the commcell console.

Can we remove the clients from console if its not required and uninstall agent from client locally
Re run new install using media from the client as local install instead of push install

@Shaw

you are using boot strapper to download media from client machine,
Instead lets clean the client entries from the Commcell console and download the media outside the client

run ./cvpkgadd from the install directory and register the client. Ensure to check port 8400 and 8403 is open between client and CS host

@Shaw boot strapper requires certain URL to be white listed from client to download software
refer document https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/4787_external_urls_for_commvault_features.html

Do you see any media or Jobs on that client if its present than you can

As you retired/deleted your Client there was no backups or not anymore.

Can you check Backup History from vCenter Client 192.168.0.10?
