- There is a data loss in customer environment.
- Customer wants me to check if there was anything which was backed up and could possible be restored.
- There are 2 incremental backups from which data needs to be restored.
- But while browsing the incremental data is stuck at “loading data….” and not actually loading data.
- Previous incremental backups are being browsed successfully.

I don’t see any index reconstructions. It is just the browse that is failing. I tried to check on both commcell and command center. It gets stuck at loading for hours.

It does look like the index is reconstructing (or attempting to) if the Browse has to load.
I am not sure why the index is being reported as outdated. By default it should backup once a week if it doesn’t meet the “ x amount of new items added to the index” threshold beforehand.
It may be best to get a case opened with Support to investigate this further.

Isn't there a log file for index restore on the ma? At least if an index restore has been actually initiated
If so please share the file, then we can validate if the index restore is performed and what might go wrong or at least provide a starting point to address towards support

But, in the interim, can you try “View backup items” in the interim to confirm which files got backed up for the specific incremental jobs? And try “restore by jobs” option?

I have opened a case with commvault as well to have this checked.

I tried “View backup items” but even that is failing to load. Restore by jobs will restore all the data from incremental backup and that will be one good option if nothing else works.

Would you be able to restart services on Commserver? Or check EvMgrS.log / Browse.log on CS if you see any errors when you try to view backup items?
If this is a Windows / Unix Filesystem client, view backup items, in general, fetches the items from backup.out file on source client if the date the job was run has not exceeded 7 days and displays it.

Based on IndexServer.log I cannot tell if there is an issue reconstructing the index or if this is just a periodic check to see if the reconstruction is complete. Depending on the amount of data it could take a long time to reconstruct. Reconstructions are also different between V1 and V2 indexing.
IndexCheckPointSummary.log will tell you if the IndexDB has been getting backed up properly. If so, then it seems to be a matter of waiting for the reconstruction to complete unless you notice errors for the recon in IndexServer.log, LogManager.log, clRestore.log, or CVD.log.
