Forum|alt.badge.img+5

Hello all!

Last time we do have had a some problems with MongoDB instance, services etc…

So one thing comes to my mind - what does MongoDB is actually used for in Commvault enviroment?

We do have 2 comserve nodes, can someone provide me any documentation or a quick overwiew what it is actually used for? And if it is needed for all the time regardless what type of backups are running?

@Grzegorz,

MongoDB is primarily used for the Command center operation by Commvault and it comes along with the Commserver or webserver installation.

As you are aware that it is a No-SQL DB, Unstructured data like JSON file, Image file data that is used for Command center operation are fetched from the MongoDB.

If the MongoDB service is down on the Commserver or Webserver, you will notice issue in loading certain tiles in the Command center.

Other the other hand, if you have your dedicated MongoDB instance used by some other application, Commvault provided option to protect them using iDA as well.

Kindly let us know if you have any other concerns.

Thanks,
Naresh G

Many thanks for your response!

So in my understanding, Commvault might actually work even if the MongoDB is somehow corrupted?

The experience with the HTML Base GUIs would be inconsistent and data will not display. But some functionality should still be available

You can also face login delays or even inability to log in to WebConsole/CoomadCenter especially when CyberArk integration is in place.
