Dear Commvault experts,

Could you please elaborate on the following error code: NetApp multi-streaming within an individual content path is not enabled because we could not create a snapshot on the path [content_path_name] [Event Code 39:515]?

On the NDMP subclient properties tab, we attempted to enable NetApp multi-streaming within an individual content path. However, after starting the full NDMP backup job, we encountered the error message mentioned above.

Is this something we can investigate on the Commvault side, or should we focus on the NetApp storage array? Based on your experience, are there any significant benefits if using this option?

More details: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/netapp_c_mode_multi_streaming_backups.html

It should improve performance - but it looks like there are a few caveats to this feature if you check that link.

It sounds as though the path has to be able to be backed by a snapshot for that particular path. You can’t run multiple streams against the same snapshot.

i.e

vol1/path (snapshot volume)

vol2/path (snapshot volume)

vol/path1 (snapshot)

vol/path2 (same volume) - no multi-stream

Hi @Damian Andre. In our case, in the “content of sublients” there is only one path. Does it mean, that multistreaming is not applicapable in such scenarion?
