Hi,

We are trying to do a Postgres DumpBasedBackupSet Restore, but it takes longer for restore to finish.

Like 300Gb take a 1 ½  day and we end up killing the job!!!

Any help/suggestions to improve the speed?

On hardware side we have enough resources:

Source:

Postgres version : 10.17

OS: CentOS stream 8

Destine:

Postgres version : 14.11

OS: CentOS stream 9

During restore I can’t see the throughput or number of stream allocated.

Thanks,

Hi Mike,

Please contact support, they would help to check further. Is it a cloud instance?

If it is SP 32 or greater, using parallel jobs to dump and restore would give better results. Please refer Using Parallel Jobs to Dump the PostgreSQL Database (commvault.com) This needs new backup performed after enabling parallel jobs option.

Please contact support, they would help to check further. Is it a cloud instance? no, is a Virtual Machine running on vmware.
