Protecting Sharepoint databases with aliases

Hello Commvault Community,

 

Is such a configuration possible that sharepoint agent
backs up documents locally, and its databases via sharepoint aliases are on another server?

Can such a configuration be made and will it work properly, or does it all have to be protected locally, on the Sharepoint server where the commvault agent is installed.

I assume in this case since you are talking about protecting the database this is SP Onprem.

No this is not possible. The agent must be installed on one of the frontend Sharepoint server to leverage some SP functions like exports and SQL agent is required to be installed on SQL backed end. Config decisions and such are referenced here:
