Save user answers in the custom package is not available
Hello everyone,
I am currently trying to create new packages for clients and would need to set certain parameters for this when creating them. Unfortunately, this time the checkbox for saving the parameters is grayed out. (See attachment.) Can someone enlighten me why this is the case ? Everything worked for the Linux agents. Now here with the Windows agents I have encountered this problem.
Page 1 / 1
Hello @thomas.S , I cant see any attachment with the thread. Could you please upload it again?
Best,
Rajiv Singal
Hello @Rajiv,
oh yes. Sorry :-)
@thomas.S
Could you please suggest which Service Pack you are trying to install here.
If you will check the box ] Create Self- extracting executable option and move forward it will give you the option for save user options. Also, it will give you the one click installation .exe file.
Hello,
We are using the Version Version=11.80.280.0 ServicePack=28 I also used the Checkbox “Create Self-extracting executable” but the needed Checkbox is still noch useable.
@thomas.S
Before giving you further suggestion, could you please suggest if you are trying to create custom package from CS software cache ? or from some other client machine’s cache.
And were you using the same cache for creating custom package for Linux Agents ?
@thomas.S , to add on, In my lab, I was able to create a custom package from my client’s cache and was able to select “save users answer in custom package”. Probably the software cache you are using is not letting you select the option. If its same cache from commserve, please try the operation from any other Windows clients cache or create the package by downloading the software from the scratch.
Best,
Rajiv Singal
Hello @Rajiv ,
The creation of the packages has now worked. I used an installation package from ma.commvault.com. After using the software cache it was no problem. Now I have created the packages but I get an error when uploading the agents to the repo. Does anyone know what this error means ?
Hello @thomas.S ,
Please let me know what exact steps are you following and what exact error pops up? Can you click on the notification and look for any specific error?
Best,
Rajiv Singal
Hello @Rajiv,
I do not get any further information via the popup. In which log file could I find more information about this problem ?
EDIT: I just found something in the LogFile WebConsole.log 7340 3 07/11 19:06:26 10.114.97.164 1072 ERROR DownloadCenterHandler:?:? - Saving package failed with error One or more errors occurred. (The type initializer for 'com.commvault.biz.downloadCenter.PackageReadmePreview' threw an exception.)
Hello @thomas.S
Could you please check DM2web.log and see if its pointing out to any issue?
Also, try to perform the following:
Try to restart the Data analytics service on the webserver
Try the operation on a different browser on the web console server itself
Best,
Rajiv Singal
Hello @Rajiv,
I went through the two points but without success. From the log file I could only find this information, which currently does not help me to find a solution.

Hello @thomas.S
Please check if the cache path on webserver actually exists? Path can be checked from registry path:
If the above path exists on the OS level, please raise a case with us to look into this further. Please do upload web server.log and DM2web.log alongside.
Best,
Rajiv Singal
Hello @Rajiv,
I have compared the configuration again with our test environment. Everything looks fine and the Commvault version is also the same. I have another screenshot of the configuration here. However, uploading the agents works but saving the settings in the download center still brings the same problem. I will open a parallel case at Commvault to investigate this further. Thanks for the help. I will give a feedback when the problem is found.
Yesterday I opened a ticket at Commvault. An appointment for a remote session was scheduled for next Monday.
Great, @thomas.S please share the incident number so that I can track it as well.
the ticket is currently still running because of the problem loading the packages into the repo. There is already a solution, but it has not been implemented yet. I have also tried to create an agent package that I want to distribute to the customers to update the agent and make the customer use the AuthCode to assign the agent backups to the correct company. Unfortunately, this is not queried during the import, since the agent only receives an update. Is there another possibility or does authentication with the AuthCode only work with new agent installations?
