Sharepoint Backup Failed not enough space on the disk

Some of our sites are failing during backup with the following errors “http://oursite/whatever FAILED There is not enough space on the disk.”  I am not sure what disk they are talking about that is out of space.  I checked the server our sharepoint sits on and it seems like we have more than enough space on the Disk.  Anyone seen this issue before?  I wanted to ask here before i opened up a ticket.  Also our Sharepoint is inhouse we are not on 365 yet.  Thanks for any pointers.

Hi @Heath, you will have to look at the client (SharePoint server). In the Commcell Console on the client properties you can find the current JobResultsFolder entry.

Hi @Heath , this is most probably due to the fact that the JobResults folder has not enough space.

Please provision job results directory to match SharePoint environment requirements.

Kind regards,

Remi

Thank you @Remi Sprangers , I don’t really know what/where that is, I will do some searching on the commvault site to find out more.  Just not sure if that is something on my commcell server or on the sharepoint server itself.

@AlbertoCruz @Heath

Sharepoint onprem when the backup is performed a SP export is created and dumped to the job results DIR on the client machine then that data is parsed and deleted once complete.

This requires additional disk space. Noted and calculated here:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/2994_sharepoint_server_system_requirements_02.html#hard-drive

  • For Databases, the job results folder size must be twice the size of the largest service applications database size.

  • For Documents, the job results folder size must be twice the size of the largest subsite.

You can change the directory to another disk if necessary as it default to disk where CV is installed.
