Hi Commvault-people,

Our DBA’s are looking to implement SQL2019 across the board, and that will include our Commvault implementations.

Although I can see it is supported, I can’t see from which Service Pack.

We are currently on SP16.

Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Thanks

Hi @MountainGoat

I’ve dug a little deeper.

When I check the same documentation for SP15: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp15/article?p=3002_3.htm

We only support up to Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Editions.

So, it appears support for Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Editions was in fact introduced from SP16 onwards.

Thanks,

Stuart

Hi @MountainGoat

Thanks for the question, I’ve checked documentation very briefly and can see Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Editions are supported in SP16:

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=3002_3.htm

As this is supported from your current service pack, SP16, I haven’t researched any further.

Thanks,

Stuart

Thanks Stuart,

I saw the original link that you posted, but I wasn’t convinced, which is the reason for the post.

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=3002_3.htm

Maybe I’ll use that method myself in future ….

Advice appreciated. SP16 looks pretty solid, also noting that its an LTS Service Pack.

Hi @MountainGoat

Yes, you’re right, each year, every 4th release is marked for Long Term Support.

So LTS releases, if you are planning a future update are:
SP16
SP20
SP24

Thanks,

Stuart
