Hi,
I’m trying to answer the queries as much as I could understand :
(1) Can we Use Salesforce backup in multiple environments without any problems?
If there are problems or something we need to consider, please point out.
Also, is it possible to restore by linking with a system other than Salesforce?
Ans: As long as you’re using multiple environments that meets our prerequisites outlined in the books online, it should be fine :
https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/30265_getting_started_with_salesforce.html
I didn’t understand what you meant by “Also, is it possible to restore by linking with a system other than Salesforce?”. Could you explain a bit more?
(2) I would like to receive detailed information on the object comparison and metadata comparison of the SalesForce backup function.
Could you give me the information of the document or the web?
Ans: As far as I understood the question, Here’s a document that tells what objects are not included in backuops:
https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/30392_salesforce_objects_not_included_in_backups.html
https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/30394_salesforce_objects_not_included_in_incremental_backups.html
As per doc: https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/30007_cloud_apps.html
You can use the Commvault software to protect the following Salesforce data and the corresponding metadata.
-
Standard objects
-
Custom objects
-
Documents
-
Attachments
-
Salesforce CRM content
-
Salesforce files
This is how you configure metadata backups :
https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/30299_backing_up_salesforce_metadata.html
3) How long is the maximum length of time that can be specified as a backup retention period?
Also, is it possible to store backups that have exceeded their retention period separately so that they are not lost?
Ans: Backup retention will be configured at Storage policy level as long as you set.
https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/11904_manage_backup_retention_and_recover_storage_space_data_aging.html
If the backup job is aged out, the job will still remain in the Tape media if it was backed up on tape until the tape was being used for other jobs i.e. not overwritten.
However you can pin a job from the job list in the storage policy for certain time or forever by manually picking and pining the job.
You can have extended retention rule for a storage policy copy: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/11920_applying_extended_retention_rules_for_secondary_copies.html
(4)What industries does Metallic sell to?
And what industries are selling Salesforce Backup licenses to?
Ans: I couldn’t understand this question at all. Could you elaborate?
Thank you for your reply!
Let me ask additional question below.
①In an environment where a system in a VM and Salesforce are linked, if the VM and Salesforce are backed up in Metallic, will there be any consistency issues when restoring the VM and Salesforce in Metallic?
②Please tell me the sales ratio by industry for Metallic.
