I am trying to setup backup for TrueNAS device which hosts both CIFS and NFS share.  Looking at the NAS backups; it appears NDMP is not supported.  I have a Windows proxy that can talk to the NAS device and can be used as a point to protect CIFS share; as I understand for NFS I would need to setup a linux VM.

I noticed TrueNAS also has snapshot support; it is possible to leverage that?

Thanks @Stuart Painter ;  I managed to configure the backup for CIFS share; however; will have to deploy a Linux VM to backup NFS share.  Unless there is a appliance commvault offers (similar to FREL for file recoveries).

Hi @Theseeker

Checking NDMP Agent: Supported Vendors, we don’t list TrueNAS, so you’re correct on that aspect that NDMP wouldn’t be supported in this environment.

Since TrueNAS isn’t supported for NDMP, I would expect Intellisnap may also be problematic.

You’re best bet is to follow NAS File Servers (Essential Documentation) or take a look at Network Share (Expert Documentation) and as you say use Windows proxy for CIFS and Linux for NFS.

Thanks,

Stuart
