Our client is still using iData agent to Backup VM’s. To convinse then for moving from iData agent Backups to VSA backup pleaseprovide pros and cons of VSA Bakcups.

Please note, functions might not be available depending on the hypervisor you are using.
Pro:
- Additional options can be introduced to the customer, such as VM replication and failover
Replication of Virtual Machines (commvault.com) - VM migration options are available thru Commvault
Cross-Hypervisor Restores (VM Conversion) (commvault.com)
Con:
- When using ‘slow’ storage there can be an impact on VM performance when disk consolidation is performed
- Legacy applications / cluster solutions can experience timeout issues when the when disk consolidation is performed
- Non default Linux kernels can have issues regarding quiescing
- Shared disks cannot be backed up
