Hello Fello Commvaulters

I hav the task of moving our current Index Cache and DDB database dat from their current drives I & D respectively to two new drives on the SAME media agent?  I can see a workflow which Ive used many times to move the data between the old media agent and the new one.  This is movement from within the same box.

I dont see a WF in how to do this.  Anyone any ideas?  Also worth pointing out the “Index Server” tab on my media agent is greyed out.

Dear Tony,

To  Move the Index Cache to a New Drive
1) Go to Storage Resources > MediaAgents.
Right-click your MediaAgent and select Properties.
Go to the Catalog tab.
In the Index Directory field, enter or browse to the new folder on your new drive.
Click OK.
The system will copy the contents of the original index cache directory to the new location and update the configuration.
Monitor the migration job in the Job Controller.
After migration, you can manually delete the old index cache directory to reclaim space.

To move the DDB

Go to Storage Resources > Deduplication Engines > [your storage policy copy].
Right-click the DDB you want to move and select All Tasks > Move Partitions.
In the Target MediaAgent And Partition Path column, click Choose Path.
Select the same MediaAgent and specify the new path on your new drive.
Click OK to start the move.
A Move Partition job will appear in the Job Controller. Wait for it to complete.

Hi Praveen

Thank you so much for this.  The DDB stuff i found but was scratching my head with the Index Drive, looking for a work flow that didnt exist.  God bless you Sir. 😀 I will try that out and report back.

Cheers

Tony

Dear Tony,

How did this go? if you are still looking Via Workflow then Change Index Server is the one. You can find this on commvault store.
