Hello,

I have a storage policy with an AuxCopy ( synchronous )  configured with the bewlo retention rules:

7 days 1 Cycle
Weekly full - 30 Days
Monthly full - 90 Days

I’m planning to create a another copy that will point to another data path to hold only the short-term retention ( 7 days 1cycle ), and to reconfigure the existing one to hold only the Weekly + Monthly full keeping the same retention days for those.

How should I re-configure the exsiting copy?  Just remove the short retention rules ( 0 days 0 cycles ) and leave the extended retention rules for the weekly + monthly fulls as is ? Leave it as synchronous copy  or change it to selective ?

Thanks

Hi @TNO,

Step 1 – Identify the current synchronous copy library

  • Determine whether the library is a tape library or a disk library with deduplication enabled (dedupe storage pool).

Step 2 – Decide on the target library for the new copy

  • Option A: Use a different tape library.

  • Option B: Use a new dedupe storage pool.

⚠️ Important: You cannot select the existing dedupe storage pool that is already associated with the synchronous copy.

Note:

You can use the feature "Allow preemption between auxiliary copy jobs".

Definition: Specifies that an auxiliary copy job can be preempted by another auxiliary copy job with a higher job priority.

Default Value: 0 (for fresh installation) or 1 ((for upgraded CommServe with the RMAuxCopyInterruptAuxCopy Additional Setting enabled)

Range: 0 (No) or 1 (Yes)

Usage: When this parameter is enabled, you can preempt an auxiliary copy job with another auxiliary copy job, by setting a higher priority for the pre-empting auxiliary copy job.
