Is there any issues with in-place windows upgrades with regards to commvault? This would be on the media agents and commserve and going from 2012R2 to 2019

Thanks

Hi @This_Guy

Hope you’re well.

This shouldn’t be a problem. We have scenarios and instructions on how to do this safely here:

  1. Overview: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/7665_operating_system_and_application_upgrades.html
  2. CS Upgrade: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/7670_performing_seamless_upgrade_on_commserve_computer.html
  3. MA Upgrade: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/7690_mediaagent_upgrading_operating_system.html

Additionally, please verify the O/S upgrade path is supported by MSFT as per: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/upgrade/upgrade-2012r2-to-2019, you’ll also need to verify the feature release of Commvault you are on supports 2019 (e.g. FR 24 does as per: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/2801_commserve_server_system_requirements.html - believe it was supported as far back as FR16: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=2801.htm

Please have a review of the above and let me know if any questions.

Regards,

Chris
