Hi @TomasK

To resolve the issue of media exceeding the 'No. of Media Label Errors' threshold in Commvault, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the tapes that have exceeded the 'No. of Media Label Errors' threshold.
  2. Increase the threshold value for 'No. of Media Label Errors'.
  3. To increase the threshold value for 'No. of Media Label Errors' in Commvault using the CommCell Console, follow these steps:
  4. On the ribbon in the CommCell Console, click the 'Storage' tab, and then click 'Hardware Maintenance'.
  5. Click the 'Media Retirement' tab in the dialog box that appears.
  6. Select the media type that you want to modify, and then click 'Edit'.
  7. In the 'Media Expiration Threshold Parameters' dialog box that appears, change the threshold value for 'No. of Media Label Errors'.
  8. Click 'OK' to save the changes.
  9. Click 'OK' in the 'Hardware Maintenance Thresholds' dialog box to finalize the changes.
  10. For more detailed guidance, refer to the Hardware Maintenance - Configuration documentation.
  11. Mark the tapes that were previously marked as 'bad' due to exceeding the threshold as 'good'.
  12. Clear any remaining errors.
  13. Monitor the tapes to ensure that the issue does not reoccur.
  14. If the issue persists, consider reaching out to support for further assistance.

Hi @TomasK,

No. of Media Label Errors-> Displays the number of errors that are allowed while writing the media label before the media is marked as Bad.

Ensure that the "Media label" was properly affixed physically on the media.

To isolate the issue we are facing, I recommend trying to perform the mount operation directly from the tape library console. This will help us determine if the problem lies within the Commvault application or if it is related to the hardware, particularly since you mentioned that the tapes are new.

Accordingly, involve hardware vendor to do the health check of the tape library.

Wasim
