Catalog disk data using media explorer for CSDB restore

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

Hi,

I have a query about MediaExplorer usage for disk.

We are sending the CSDB backups to Disk library(we dont have tapes). We regularly run reports for CSDB backup jobs.

In case of disaster we will be having only JobID.The articles mentions to select volumeID where the CSDB job is writes. What report will collect the info about volume where the DR backup has written?

Media Prediction report seems only applicable to tapes.Media Prediction Report - Overview and CommCell Configuration Report - Overview.

For a Disk Volume:

  1. Select the Disk option

  2. Browse to or type the drive path for the disk volume path. (For example, F:\, if F is the drive letter that holds the disk volume.)

  3. Optional: To add multiple mount paths, click Add Mount Paths.

  4. Directly beneath CV_magnetic folder, select the volume folder (V_nnn) in which the archive files reside, and click OK to continue.

Hi @AbdulIkram ,

You can catalog the entire CV_Magnetic folder also as mentioned in documentation

You can specify the entire mount path to enumerate multiple volumes and later catalog volumes one by one for the catalog operation.

If you have the DR Backup jobId you can use the steps mentioned here to get the media information

Hi @Abhishek Narulkar ,

Thank you for looking into this.I will test and get back how much time it takes to perform this process.

You can specify the entire mount path to enumerate multiple volumes and later catalog volumes one by one for the catalog operation.

BTW, I am aware of checking the media using this process. When everything is down(commcell and command center), how do we check view media ?It does not make sense!!!

Right-click the job and click View Media.
