Hello everyone,

I have a question about changing the Media Agent where I have configured DiskLib using to this the disk from my array.

Now I want to refresh the MA to a new one. Could I for example move DDB, Index to the new MA and then reassign the disk from the old MA to the new MA and it should work fine or is there another way to do it more securely

Hello Zawro,

Yes, you can move the Index and DDB to the new MA and post associating the disk from old MA to new MA you need to update the Mount Path sharing accordingly i.e updating the new MA in the Mount Path sharing.

So it should work if I:

  1. Instal new Meda Agent
  2. Add to Commvault
  3. Offline(maintenance) Old MA and new MA
  4. Move DDB, Move Index from old MA to new MA
  5. Share mount patch as local path to new MA as Read/Write?
  6. Change mount patch - delet connection to old MA, how ?
  7. Online new MA

After all, I should have the same situation in Commvault (backups, jobs, ddb, posibilities to restore jobs), because I move all data from old MA to new MA or could I lose something?

Hello,

Here is the procedure:

1. Install the new MA.
2. Add to Commvault Console.
3. Move DDB and Index to new MA as per DOC.
4. Move the library and Media Agents in maintenance mode.
5. Physically attach the disk/path to the new MA server.
6. Remove the library and new MA from maintenance and update the mount path to new MA with read/write.
7.  Remove old MA from sharing.
