Hi Team,

Iam testing Isilon Smart lock feature for storage level immutability with Commvault  DASH Aux Copies.

My Dedupe is hosted on local drive ( non-worm) on windows media agent .

Library is created from smart lock directory from Isilon .

My question is that how does CV writes to WORM enabled storage ?

As per the current settings on Isilon Smart lock there is autocommit time period of 5 mins  ... files that have been in a SmartLock directory for a 5 mins of time without being modified will  automatically committed to a WORM state.

Can Commvault handle this because i guess there will be chunks which will not modify for 5 mins and need to update later during Aux copy process? Will the Aux copy fail or create new chunks/folders ?

What about DDB ? Keeping DDB on non-worm and data on worm is recommended way ?

Regards,Mohit

Good afternoon.  To configure Worm with Smart Lock see this resource:

  • Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale SmartLock - In addition to the setting to enable the WORM (write once read many) capability, use EnableIsilonSmartLock additional settings on the disk library MediaAgents to enable the Isilon's Smart Lock feature and to indicate that the mount path is hosted on the Isilon device. For more information on creating the additional setting, see Adding or Modifying Additional Settings from the CommCell Console.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

You will not be able to have deduplication enabled on a storage policies that write to any storage if smart lock is enabled.

When iam trying to deploy the Enable WORM workflow it is giving me error --

“commserve does not have eligible storage pool for WORM”

Do we have Enable Worm workflow for disk libraries as well ? workflow details mention that it is for cloud storage vendors .

For disk storage, you set at the storage policy copy level:

@Orazan :

This option which you are highlighting is for CV software worm. Iam concerned about storage hardware worm.

The documentation clearly mentions that workflow can be deployed on disk libraries .

Can any one confirm if we can deploy Enable WORM Storage workflow on disk libraries ?

It is mentioned in this https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/146623_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_disk_libraries.html

Disk librray is created from ISILON  SmartLock WORM domain directories .

The workflow should work for disk libraries as well as cloud.

Just ran into this same issue today!  Glad it’s available in 11.26.  Upgrading soon, will update this thread on our experience.
