Hello Community,

We have a VTL configured, which backups are saved to it, we want to decommission the VTL while preserving the data backed up.

Is there any way to move/migrate the data saved in the VTL to a Disk Library ? And if so, is it possible to enable deduplication on the data migrated from the VTL to the Disk Library to save more space.

Kind regards.

Hi @Commvault Engineer

Your VTL now has a storage policy copy in for example storage policy X.
Depending on your situation you can perform several steps, but if I understand correctly you want to add an additional disklibrary for this.

If so you can create a storage pool with deduplication. Within the storage policy you can create a new storage policy copy, go in to the newly created copy properties, set the proper retentions, select Copy Policy and enable the option Specify source for Auxiliary Copy and select your VTL. Run your aux copy.
