i am trying to configure intellisnap , storage array is powermax 8000 , and my media agents are hyperscale x nodes , having access to storage via fiber (SAN mode)

i was going thru below requirements , if anyone can clarify doubts

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/system_requirements_for_dell_emc_powermax_vmax3_vmax_symmetrix_storage_array.html

1> Solutions Enabler Licensing and BASE/Symmetrix license for all snapshot types - where is this referring , for the storage array or on media agent

2> LUN masking records and views must be accessible from the host where the backup takes place. what is the host referring here ?

3> what is client and proxy computer , remote MA referring here , since we are using Hyperscale x nodes we are not planning to install solution enbaler on that, we already have solution enabler installed in one mahine can we use that , or do we need to install any package on it

what is the best practise in my scnario ,

powermax with hyperscale x nodes

  1. This is a license on the storage array. The storage array (powermax 8000) needs to be licensed for all snapshot tyles
  2. The Media Agent performing the snap or snap mount operations needs access to the LU

What applications do you intend to snap?

@Damian Andre  planning to enable IntelliSnap for vsa backup , we have ERP system running on that

we have hyperscale x , i think its not recommended to install solution enabler on that , in this we need to use remote snap right, we already have a vm with solution enabler , can we use the same vm, do we need to install any commvault agent on that machine , what access does it require between remote snap and commserv /MA
