VTL tape size

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Recently created 2 Tb VTL tapes on DD9400. However CV is detecting the size as 399.99 Gb.

Thanks - Commvault will query the VTL to obtain the Media Type and this is what we’re detecting back from the DD. Confirm the Media Type on the DD side for the tapes you created and once corrected, your sizes should match.

If you check the properties of the Library in the Commcell Console → Media Usage tab, what’s the Default Media Type showing in the dropdown?

It sounds like these are being detected as LTO-3 tapes based on the 400gb size

Thanks for the info. I manage the DD side, working with our backup admin. I have access to the Commcell Console, but I do not see a Media Usage tab.

Ah my apologies, I should have been more specific. Right click on the DD50 tape library in Commvault → Properties → Media Usage tab

Thanks very much. Looks like you were spot on.
