Change path

We have some trouble with paths to a Synology nas going offline.

Currently we have the DNS name in the path.

I’d like to change that to referring the IP address instead. I’m pretty sure I can do it without any issues but better safe then sorry.

Anyone see any risks of changing the \\DNSname to \\IPaddress for the path(s)?

You could also put the IP and hostname in the hosts file on the MA(s) if you want to confirm if the issue is DNS related without making any changes to the config in Commvault.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi @Henke

Thank you for the question.

Using the DNS name allows you to change the IP if needed and update the DNS A record to reflect the change.

However, if you prefer to use the IP for addressing the NAS, that should be fine too.

Thanks,

Stuart
