which is better. Which commvault does the encryption or does the storage do it?

Unless there’s a good case for having it managed by the storage, I would keep it simple (KISS) and let Commvault handle the encryption.

​@Pedro_A : It would depend on what kind of performance you get while running both the jobs. Typically hardware encryption is faster than software encryption.
