Regarding Qumulo backup - Change File Tracking

Forum|alt.badge.img+7

Hi team,

IHAC who runs Qumulo file server and performs it’s backup using CVLT + StoreOnce.

Customer has a big concern about too long scanning time for backup so they’re about to apply this feature, Change File Tracking option on their environment.

CVLT version is FR24 and I read this URL content but no any detailed procedures.

Optimized Incremental Scans Using Qumulo Native Change File Tracking APIs (commvault.com)

Can customer use this option to reduce the scanning time for the subsequent backup job?

Please kindly let me know how to turn on this option from CV or Qumulo side.

Thanks a lot.

Hi @Hongmo Kim,

It should be leveraged by default when you select Qumulo file server as the the file server type. If that is not the case you may need a support case to figure out if there is some error or incompatibility, but it does not appear that any special configuration needs to be done (as long as you are on FR21+).

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add server.

The Add server dialog box appears.

  3. Click Qumulo file storage.

The Add Qumulo file storage dialog box appears.

Thanks @Damian Andre

You mean we don’t need to do any configuration for this CFT of Qumulo?

This feature is going to be applied with CVLT if Qumulo is set as server by default?

Correct.  Should be there by default.
