Hi,

I will be very appreciate for help.

Could not start server after restoring from Commvault backup > https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/87275_restoring_full_virtual_machines_for_vmware.html

During the recovery process, a virtual machine with disks is created, but when the machine is started, the machine is reconfigured, as a result of which the server does not start and only the recovery windows mode appears.

Windows server 2012 R2 version being restored. VMware ESXi 7.0.1

Also backup is fine - I try form another backup and see the same problem

I find error : Entering Required Firewall Settings for the VSA with VMware -  but backup is working so it nor problem with connection.

Extra information from logs:

The Windows Dedupe content will backed up as OPTIMIZED_FOR_RESTORE
RESTOREIDX raw partition option and no stubs option remain disabled
The failed byte count does not include files that failed due to seek error

This is NOT a WOW64 system state restore
IndexingV2 is enabled. Using new restore

Failed to get FBR MA with error

Greetings for help!

Hi Kszaf.

can you check that VM backup is with filesystem and application consistent backup and does windows OS updates downloaded but not installed prior to backup. if so, seems similar to https://kb.commvault.com/article/68463. which FR your setup having? Please install latest MR on that FR that have provide fix in place and run backups and try restore from new jobs. if still facing issue, please rise a customer support case.

Based on other incidents with this message, it looks like a ports issue.

Can you confirm the ports are opened as per the docs?

Thanks!
