Upgrade from v26 to v28 -- Access Denied to folder.

Error: Failed to extract SEE Files for packages [717, 952]. Exception:Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\Temp\DBUpgradeFiles\Base\DBUpgrade\CommServer\DBUpgradeCommServerPreUpgrade.see' is denied.

Ah ok, then moving the installer is not an option.

But still, something is blocking access, do you have an anti virus/malware installed? If so can you test with that disabled?

Also are the Commvault services running under local system account or a different account? If different, check the ACL on the folder to see if full controll is available for that user.

Sounds like a windows defender or something blocking binary access to the ProgramData folder. Try moving the installer to for instance a temp folder in the root of C. Assuming this is a manual install. Or temporarily disable the AV / exclude that folder path

I’m running the install from the console on the Commcell Server > Right click > upgrade software

 

I’ve done this many times before this upgrade without incident.
