Install Failed with: 'Swap not allowed during OS/Application upgrade/downgrade'

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

In our commcell we had a RHEL client with the name FakeName. That RHEL server has been taken down and rebuilt as a Win2022 server using the same name(FakeName).

We want to keep our backup history for RHEL server so we renamed it in the commcell to FakeName_Linux.

Now when we try to install on the windows server which is now named ‘FakeName’ we see the following error:

It appears that although the Name and Hostname have been changed to FakeName_Linux - the CS is still seeing this as FakeName. It seems the client identifier is still also showing ‘FakeName’ and not referring to the name change.

How do I clear out the reference in our CS to the old Linux build that no longer exists so I can have the installer see this as a net new install.

Hi @Ponte_Vedra

Kindly release the license of the old Linux client and proceed with registering the new Windows client using its IP address as the client name. Complete the registration process with this configuration.

Once done we can then rename the new windows client Name from IP to Hostname.

Hi Pradeep,

We released the license and installed with IP address but its still failing with its same error. FileSystem Agent install failing with Apptype Swap not allowed during OS/Application upgrade/downgrade.

I also attempted to run the installer locally - received this prompt(first screenshot) and installer summary(second screenshot)

Disregard my previous response.

Pradeep - your steps worked correctly. The client did not use the IP address in both fields to launch CV installer. Once I used to IP for NAME/HOSTNAME the install completed and I could then go back and edit NAME to the friendly name required by my client.

Thanks for your assistance.
