Hello All,

I am curious to know that do we have any limitation in the length of the characters for the HSX node names?

I mean is there any limit that name should be within 15 or 20 characters? If yes what is the allowed character length for the HSX node names.

Regards

Ananth

Hi @Ananth

HSX comes with RHEL 7.9 so hostname limit should be same.
Each element of the hostname must be from 1 to 63 characters long and the entire hostname, including the dots, can be at most 253 characters long.

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man7/hostname.7.html#:~:text=Each%20element%20of%20the%20hostname,at%20most%20253%20characters%20long.

Hello @R Anwar - Thanks for the answer. We don't have any restrictions on commvault end rite?

@Mike Struening - Anything from your end?

@Ananth , my apologies on the delayed response (I was on a long vacation).

@R Anwar ‘s reply was correct.  If there are no limitations on RHEL, there’s none for us (i.e. we don't have additional restrictions).
