Mass Recall Exchange V2 O365

Forum|alt.badge.img+13

Hi All,

we had the situation that we had an local exchange installation with commvault mail archiving. We decided to go into O365 cloud with all the mailboxes.

Is there any option to do an mass recall from all stubs included all attachments into the O365 mailboxs ?

@SSchmidt Yes the browse and restore. There is a skip option in the restore window. But also you can leverage the find function to filter by stubs

Hello @SSchmidt

The recalls should still work even with the mailboxes located in O365.

Are you still protecting these mailboxes in O365 with the mailbox agent? It can provide complete protection of messages, files etc for those mailboxes. If you are still protecting them and configured the O365 settings in Commvault you can just perform a browse and restore of the archived items

Hey Scott,

yes we are still backup the mailboxes in O365.

the documentation: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=96831.htm sayes:

  • MassRecall Utility is not applicable for the Exchange Online mailbox.

So the question is which option we have to do an mass recall

You are correct @SSchmidt the cvrecallmailbox tool is only for onprem mailboxes.

If you migrated these users and are still protecting them with the mailbox agent, you should still be able to browse and restore and filter by migrated messages to recover those migrated emails. There is no tool once they are migrated over.

Hey @Scott Reynolds ,

you mean an browse and restore on the mailbox pick inbox for example and say restore all and unconditional overwrite ?

This was the only way which i found and which works.

But than we had the problem that all mails will be restore. We configured archiving only mails older than 2 years. When i do an normal browse with overwrite all mails will be restored.

our goal is to recall/restore only the mails which are stubbed/archived.
