VM backups with "Warning Unable to quiesce guest file system during snapshot creation" shown as "Completed"

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

Hi All,

VM backups with "Warning Unable to quiesce guest file system during snapshot creation" are shown as "Completed".

I see it changed about two months ago in a CommCell running 11.24. Before that change the backups statuses were shown as “Completed w/ one or more errors”.

Currently I see VM backups with warning about unsuccessful quiescing reported as “Completed” in 11.24 and 11.26.

Is it possible to make the backup jobs with "Warning Unable to quiesce guest file system during snapshot creation" beeing shown as “Completed w/ one or more errors”? Or how could I find/report/list such backup jobs?

Regards,

Lubos

Hi @Lubos Dvorak

Try to add this additional setting with a value of “0” on the VSA(s):

https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22ignoreQuiesceGuestErrors%22&id=4460

Hi @RubeckDK ,

Unfortunately this setting has not affected the job status.

Hi @RubeckDK ,

Did you run a VM backup after applying the setting? - It will not affect the status of previous jobs, but should for subsequent jobs.

Best Regards,

Michael

Hi @MichaelCapon

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to affect the status of previous jobs….. :-(
Subsequent jobs should show the status, though.. .

Hi @RubeckDK ,

My mistake - I added the setting to CommServe instead to VSA proxy :-(

After adding the setting to VSA the job status is generated properly.
Thank you.
