Hi there.

Can a StoreOnce Catalyst device be presented to 2 Media agents and shared to leverage load balancing and fault tolerance ?

On all project I have encountered StoreOnce, they were either over LAN or attached to a single media agent.

Also, can we use a Linux Media agent with Catalyst over FC ? Documentation says MA on linux is supported but not very clear on how the device will be “seen” at the OS level and if additional Linux drivers/software are required.

Thanks

Abdel

Hi @Abdellatif AITELBACHA

I have not configured it before, but based on HPE's StoreOnce Catalyst FC in Linux info:

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00043535en_us&page=mod_SO_FC_client_config_201505121227.html

Combined with the Commvault CLI to add media agents:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/134573_adding_additional_mediaagents_to_existing_hpe_storeonce_library.html

I would say that it should be possible to have a Linux HA Media Agent setup in combination with a StoreOnce Catalyst library over FC.

My guess though is that the add media agent cli xml only adds an IP sharing towards the second media agent and not a direct FC path. Mainly due to the remark in documentation:

"One mount path per library is supported."

If IP sharing is the case, you will still have a single point of failure on one media agent.

But as I said, never configured it.

Looking forward to reactions from others, hopefully with field experience in this specific setup
