OpenStack Instance Restore failed with error "Unable de create the disks for virtual Machine"

Forum|alt.badge.img+12

Hi fellow Commvaulters,

We’ve launched a restore of an OpenStack instance, which the job failed with the following error :

The job has overwritten the Instance, which means that it is now deleted, and we are not able to restore it.

Any suggestion of what can be the root cause of the error ?

Kind regards.

Hello,

The error appears to be related to Cloud Authentication “Assume Role Error”. Is this a restore from Cloud Storage or is the VSA Agent for CloudApps?

Do you see any errors in CVD on the MediaAgent reading the data?

Hi @Collin Harper ,

Thanks a lot for your availability.

Actually, the data to be restored are located locally on the MA, the concerned Instance to restore to (An in-place restore), is a cloud based one, using OpenStack.

Will double-check the CVD log file of the related MA that is storing the data.

Thanks again.

Also check for errors related to Openstack api connections.

General questions, what is the provider using, RHEL in combination with Ceph? I assume you have a VSA Instance/VM placed within the Openstack tenant network?

@Commvault Engineer , have you had a chance to look at the feedback here?

Thanks!

Hello Mike, actually we’ve opened a case with the support, including the OpenStack owner, and we’re still investigating the issue with them, it seems that the Commvault requests are not reaching OpensStack.
