Hi just to check do our media agents have load balancing mechanism or intelligence ? Cause in a large and scalable environment , sometimes it does not make sense to manual manage in in event of failure for any MA. I know we can configure alternate path but customer is looking at more than that . They are looking at auto balance capability within MA like our VSA.
Load Balance of media agents

Yes, that is possible but it strongly depends on the storage backend and it depends on the event. Preferably you would use a cloud storage or CIFS/SMB target but most likely Hyperscale X will also work.
Do mind that this by default results in a HA solution for recovery tasks only. In case you want to make sure backups are also possible once one MA is down is that you will have to allow the DDB to run in degraded mode.
Speaking of true load balancing; well this is not really the case because as far I'm aware it is still the case that once a client performs its first backup than it will stick to that MediaAgent. This has to due with the fact that deduplication is partition based so it will take the shortest route to the DDB that was used for the first backup.
