Hi Vaulters,

Is it possible to upgrade content indexing from index V1 to V2. From my understanding upgrading the index is done at the client level and in this case the Exchange Compliance Archiver agent is the one that would need to be updated and all compliance jobs will become Index V2 going forward. However, the Agents that Support V2 page lists that you can’t migrate from V1 to V2 but can create a new client with V2 indexing. I just want to ask so that I can inform my client with certainty that this isn’t possible.

@Baba Imani Tia  Correct you would need to create a new V2 mailbox client.

All data that has been archived/protected and Content Indexed already can still be searchable. Once you begin running backup from the new client that data will also be searchable as well and all data from both V1 and V2 will be presented in the search results.

There is a transition section in BOL
