SAP HANA 2.0 - idle status - log backup

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

Hi

I have just created an SAP HANA backup using Commvault 11.24.

And I have notices, that there is this idle job running all the time.

Is that normal when setting up a SAP HANA backup, that you have this job running all the time?

When I am looking at the job, it is looking like it is a log backup

Hi @Anders Trier Rasmussen

You guessed it right. This is a log backup job.

SAP HANA database keeps generating the log backups frequently and for highly transactional databases it is as frequent as one in a few seconds. For this reason, SAP HANA has persistent log backups which stay active for 6 hours and keep backing up the logs generated by the database.

When there is no active data transfer is going on, the job status is set to idle. But the job is still alive and will accept any log backups coming from the database further.

Thanks,

Sunil-
