I was looking for documentation on how to configure backup for multi node postgresql cluster and came across above community question.

It was mentioned that plans are there for supporting this config (post is 9 months old)

Is it in support now?

@Sunil: quick question
In the PR2023 documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/2023/expert/149133_changes_in_commvault_platform_release_2023.html) the following is stated:

You can protect PostgreSQL data using multiple standby cluster instances.

Previously, only one master-standby server pair was supported.

This does mean that one master and multiple standby servers can be configured once an environment is upgraded to Platform Release 2023 ?

Hi @Patrick

Yes, it’s controlled by an additional setting. More details are here.

So, I assume it would help to open a CMR so PM can prioritize the backlog accordingly, right?

Hi Meera,

Will the backup work in case of multi nodes deployment (more than one standby), but in CV agent the customer will define only one Master and One passive node? Thanks

Hi @Dshochat

Yes, that will work. We can’t configure the instance with more than two nodes.

Thanks,

Sunil-

Hi @Patrick

This one got even better in 11.34. We’ve added pseudo client based cluster configuration which supports multiple cluster types (Patroni, EDB EFM, RepMgr, Native) and supports all backup methods including Snap and BLB.

Cluster Backup Support for PostgreSQL (commvault.com)

Thanks,

Sunil
