Installation Issue with Commvault v10 SP15: Internet Connection Error

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

I'm attempting to install Commvault v10 SP15 on a new physical server, and I've previously succeeded in installing it on virtual machines without any issues. However, when trying to install it on the physical server, I encounter an error message that reads, 'please make sure that your computer is connected to the internet and retry.' Despite verifying that the internet connection is working correctly through testing and disabling antivirus software, the Commvault installer continues to prevent the download.

I am seeking advice or suggestions for addressing this issue. It's worth noting that due to external constraints, installing Commvault v11 is not currently an option. If anyone has faced a similar situation or has any recommendations for resolving this problem, I would greatly appreciate your assistance."

Hello @Alexis

I understand you cannot upgrade to V11 right now but a good arguing point would be that any issue with V10, if a Support ticket is opened, would be considered “best effort”. An Engineer could only spend so much time on the issue and it cannot be escalated to Development unless you are unable to restore data. Any other issue would be treated as “best effort”.

Thank you,
Collin

Hello @Alexis

it could be due to multiple reasons. If its a Windows machine, are you able to see any related errors related to Commvault or Microsoft C++ Redistributable? What is the C++ installed on the client? Can you try to uninstall the current C++ and install it from MS’s official website?

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Once its re-installed, please reboot the system and try the install again.

Secondly, please check if the commvault installer is not missing any files after comparing it with other working server. If possible, copy and paste the installer again on the server and re-attempt the install.

Best,

Rajiv Singal

In all honesty I think you are better off by mitigating the external constraints here, but let's give it a try to revive a 6+ years old version….

You said you were able to install it successfully in the past. How long ago was this? What is the underlying operating system version? What happens when you try to install it? Any errors in the logs or eventviewer?
