I tried to restore messages from Exchange DB and the job of persistent recovery stuck on 5%
(the backup locate in disks not tapes)
and in the media agent that need to create the recovery point I receive this error in 3dnfs.log:
“Failed to send keep alive message to Restore head”
maybe I need to restore the DB and then restore messages from DB offline

I take it you are using archiving here? Persistent recovery jobs can stay open for as long as 24 hours to allow for additional stub recall requests so its not unusual for these to stay in the job controller for a longer amount of time.
Have you got additional copies you can attempt a restore from? Looks as though there could be an issue in accessing the archived data in question.
I assume there are no issues in communication between media agent / commserve?
