How to install second media agent server in existing commserve

Can we install second media agent on existing commserve infra? 

actually, already schedule the backup and after second media agent installed, the respective schedule backup job changes the Media agent as second one. then will happen any issue or will backup start form be beginning what?

Yes, you can deploy as many MAs as you required.

It will need to have access to the library and the DedupEngine in order to carry on with backup operations for the already backed up clients.

Actually not getting the post installation part. i have added the storage pool on second media agent and what should i do?

 

and if suppose some of the client through one media agent backup and move others are perform second media agent through backup? can we do this type of environment ?

single commserve and 2 media agent server.

one is on commserve and second is separated media agent. 

can we do this

Hi Keshav,

when you are using two media-agents that should do load-sharing during the backup and should replace each other in the case of a failure … the backup medium has to be shared between the media agents (shared disk, shared tape, NFS- or CIFS-share, S3 library).

 

Your case:
1. server = commserve + MA
2. server = MA only

→ The 2. server has to have access to the backup medium.

 

If you do not have a shared backup medium, you can use the configuration for load sharing but not for failover.
