hi,

I need help creating a backup schedule in version 11.36 using the command center. In the previous version I had already created it without any problems because I used the commcell console.

I have a subclient for which I need to create a backup schedule:

Subclient1
Backup daily incremental running x hour
Backup full backup running all saturday
and the storage is in different media pool

I can't associate two jobs to the same subclient, could someone help me?

Hi Carvalhos,

You cannot do this. If you want to send backups to two different storage destinations, you have to use two backupsets.

For scheduling two bkp times you add multiple backup times on same plan.

Thanks,

Suranjan

New Installs using 11.34 onwards will by default transition admins to Command Center which the concept of storage policies. schedule policies do not exist or are slightly changed to what is called Plans.

Understand the difference between Storage policies and Plans: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.38/essential/understanding_differences_between_storage_policies_and_plans.html

To create a new plan go here: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.38/essential/creating_backup_plan_01.html

If you simple prefer to work with the CommCell Console through the Java GUI and want to just create storage policies as well as schedules policies, you can still enable it, but will need authorization code.

Go here to view how to enable it back: https://kb.commvault.com/article/82051

Thanks for the reply

I understood how to create the plans, my question is that I created two plans

plan1 - runs on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
sends to a pool1 of tapes

plan2 - runs on Saturday
sends to a pool2 of tapes

how do I associate these two plans with a subclient? When I try, it only leaves one

Hey @carvalhos

Maybe this entry would give you some additional ideas?

https://community.commvault.com/storage-and-deduplication-49/separating-a-monthly-full-backup-from-weekly-full-best-practice-973?tid=973&fid=49

This describes using a selective copy to separate out backups. It would take some planning but perhaps you could configure a selective auxiliary copy of plan 1 to pull from pool 1 into pool 2.

Example:
Primary copy = pool 1

Secondary copy = pool 2

Other thoughts:

  1. Use the Java console as suggested to do your config as in your previous version, but you won’t be able to use Plans. I don’t know your environment, your decision to make.
  1. Look into performing Synthetic Fulls - Saves time and resources. You run incrementals every day, and then Saturday after that incremental run the Synthetic full to create your full.
    - If you need the Full or Synthetic full backup in both tape pools, this is where you could create your selective aux copy to pool 2.
    - I *think* you could achieve all this in Plans (web console), I’m pretty confident you can in Storage & Schedule Policies (Java console).

Good luck, hope this helps.
