Importing existing SnapMirror Relationship

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

I have existing SnapMirror relationships which I created from the NetApp CLI. I am trying to create an auxiliary copy which will not create new relationships, and will not force a re-baselining of my data. I want to import the existing relationships. Some years ago I used the OC6ImportExisting Relationships key on the Media Agents to accomplish this. It has been a while and my most recent attempt has not been successful.

Hello MathBob,

We no longer need to use the OC6ImportExisting to import relationships in commvault as we can now run vaults/mirrors using open replication. Open replication does not require the OCUM server to play the middle man.

So essentially if you have a policy that is created without OCUM, the copy you create will be able to consume the existing relationship without the need to do any additional things. Below is a doc that goes over the open replication feature:

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=33782.htm

Thanks. Is it still possible to do it the other way, if I wanted to? I like consistency and ALL of my other relationships are traditionally managed, through OCUM.

@MathBob Unfortunately as of now the only way to use an existing relationship (that was created outside of Commvault) would be to use the open replication feature.

You can convert the existing OCUM based copies to open replication for consistency if you would like by following the steps in the following doc:
https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=33785.htm

This process will still allow you to use the existing relationships and you will achieve the consistency you are looking for.

Cheers.
