I have a PureStorage NAS array. At the moment it’s carrying about 200Tb of video files. By the way if you ever heard that video files do not deduplicate vary well then I can confirm that. Our video is extremely repetitive. It’s camera footage of the same scene over and over. It’s not like a movie or anything like that, it’s more like endless footage of a conveyor belt for hours and hours. So even incredibly boring video images of the same thing does not deduplicate. Our deduplication rate on this PureStore device is basically zero.
But that aside, i need to back it up. It’s all NFS exports that our Linux systems access. What is Commvault’s prescribed method for this? Do we dedicate a Linux host to the task and then backup the mount point on the Linux host? Or is there a better way?

For backing up NFS exports from your PureStorage NAS using Commvault, you can utilize the NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol) backup method, which is specifically designed for network-attached storage systems.
Steps to set it up using Command Center:
1. Add the NAS Server: Start by adding your NAS server to the Commvault environment. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File Servers.
2. Configure the NAS Server: Click Add server, then select NAS. Enter the necessary details such as the NAS server name and host name.
3. Select Backup Method: Choose NDMP as the backup method during the configuration.
4. Configure NDMP Settings: Enter the NDMP credentials and other settings required to access and back up the NAS server.
5. Specify Backup Content: Define what data or volumes to back up.
6. Set Backup Schedule: Configure the backup frequency and retention policies as per your requirements.
