A customer of ours uses FairCom C-tree as database and requires an application consistent backup.

C-tree comes with its own VSS writer which is registered as “c-treeACEVSSWriter”.

Is it possible to do a FileSystem backup an invoking this VSS Writer to freeze and thaw the database?

Thanks for guidance.

Confirmed with a colleague we don’t have a method to utilize specific VSS writers.  I would check with the vendor and see if they have a script available to utilize.

That’s how we generally back up specific apps without dedicated agents.

@chelydridae , I would check with the vendor (FairCom) and see how they suggest backing up the data.  They likely have a script that calls in their VSS writer that you can utilize as a Pre-Scan script (and there’s likely a post script as well).

I’ll ask internally to see if we have a manner to utilize a specific VSS writer as well.
