Question

Creating adhoc file backups and restores using CLI and the find command on AIX / Linux clients

Forum|alt.badge.img+3

Hi Group, I’m hoping someone can help me out. We are trying to develop a script that can be ran on a client which will use a find command for specific files to create a list to be backed up and restored on another client using CLI or the cvc command. We are new to Commvault and were able to do this with TSM’s dsmc command.

Any help or examples would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hello @Libi

Welcome to Commvault!

To add on to what Navneet mentioned, I believe you can create scripts from commserve itself and not directly from the client specially for file system backups.

Please take a look at https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/23177_command_line_backup_unix_and_linux_file_systems_03.html for backup

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/23181_command_line_restore_unix_and_linux_file_systems_03.html and this one is for restore.

Script is available in .xml format and you can make amends accordingly.

Best,

Rajiv Singal
