Hi folks,

Getting this error

Here’s the background, simplified

Out of space in Metallic, storage policy is set to 365days/1 cycle. We moved to Metallic sometime last spring I think? Either way, chewed up 50TB in about 6 months.

I think I have it down now where I have two storage policies, backing up the same stuff on the same retention period. However, if I try and reduce the retention rate of one of the policies (from 365/1 to say, 180 days / 1 cycle), I the error above.

How do i get past that? I’ve submitted this to support and they have said nothing about any form to be filled out.

The link provided by Pradeep is only to disable Compliance Lock on the BackupDR Copy.

For any other Storage Policy Copies, and providing you are on FR32 or higher, you may use the self service portal described in the following article;

Hi Erick,

The Compliance Lock feature is introduced for all Air Gap Protect (AGP) storage pools to provide enhanced data protection by enabling a security lock on new and existing AGP Storage pools. This feature is equipped with a 24-hour auto re-enable functionality, promoting better cyber resilience.

We request raising a support request for now so the Infra team can disable the lock on the respective Storge which then will allow changing the retention on the respective plan.

Yeah, already knew all that. Already have a support ticket open for the past two weeks.

The answer is to get past this error, you have to submit a separate ticket and submit a form. The form is nothing more than a PDF that says you won’t sue CV for your actions of removing backups.

Process takes 24-48 hours if you are fortunate.

I’m marking this as the best answer because A) it doesn’t tell me something I already know and B) provides me with information on how to actually fix the issue. However, unfortunately, I’m stuck on FR28.
Why am i stuck? Well, I cant move to the next version because I cant apply a new license. I can’t apply a new license because I am out of space in Metallic.
Thank you Javier, much obliged.

Thank you Erick, that is an unfortunate stream of events!

For FR28 you indeed need to go the Support case route, as you have already flagged (and are experiencing) we require you to sign a waiver as you acknowledge you want us to disable WORM for the particular copy.

We will then work on providing an AuthCode to run on the CS and that will disable the Compliance Lock attribute from the relevant Storage Policy Copy.

As you have also flagged, and providing it involves some back and forth between your end, support and development, the operation may take a bit longer than desire.

I do apologise for any delays and inconveniences progressing this operation may be causing at your end.

It will hopefully be addressed soon, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate on letting us know.
