Hi,

We take backups of VMs by installing VSA on VM and using hotadd transport mode (mount of VMDK of VM to backup into VSA proxy). The VMDK data are then sent, through the LAN, from the VSA proxy to physical media agents containing disk space.

Now, I am looking for the restore process.

Is the restore process as follows:

  • Restore VM data from Media Agent to VSA Proxy using the LAN
  • The VSA Proxy mounts the VMDK of the VM to be restored (even if we need to restore a single file?)
  • The VSA Proxy sent the data to restore (file/folder or VMDK) to the VM to be restored using hypervisor mechanism?

Many thanks

Regards

Good afternoon.  Yes this looks correct when using HotAdd.
