As Commvault celebrates 25 years of data management innovation and success in helping businesses of all sizes protect and manage their data, the new Feature Release demonstrates that we’re continuing to do what we’ve always done: Constant innovation is the basis for our suite of Intelligent Data Services that help our customers solve business-critical data challenges.
11.24 is a Long-Term Support Release (LTS), delivering a core set of new functionalities plus numerous customer experience enhancements across product areas.
In this preview, I will highlight the following capabilities:
- Manage new workloads
- Simplification
- HyperScale X
11.24 includes dozens of improved software defaults, self-help, and resiliency improvements (readiness check, better error messages upon failures, etc.) for VSA and Database agents. These enhancements help you to identify the root cause of problems and avoid issues from arising.
Manage new workloads
Azure DevOps has robust integrations with Azure and a comprehensive suite of technologies that help you deliver software securely and quickly. Commvault can backup and restore Azure DevOps along with metadata (project description and project visibility). You can also use the Commvault software to back up and restore Git repositories. It can also backup metadata associated with Git repositories which include repository visibility and description.
Simplification
AI and Machine Learning help predict SLAs and provide targeted recommendations for corrective actions. With the recent addition of support of IntelliSnap, IBM i, and NoSQL databases in Commvault Command Center,
an intuitive, single-pane-of-glass dashboard from which you can protect and manage your entire data environment.
HyperScale X
We announced the following two major features with HyperScale X.
- Data Immutability
- Integration with Metallic
Data Immutability support for HyperScale X enhances security by ensuring protected data can’t be modified or deleted, mitigating the risk from ransomware attacks. It provides the first level of defense in the layered secure data management framework. It involves zero overhead and no additional capacity needed. This functionality prevents access to unauthorized users and programs through secure access policies with kernel controls.
HyperScale X for Metallic provides the flexibility to choose Commvault’s integrated, scale-out, and hyper-converged storage – HyperScale X. HyperScale X can be used for the following use cases.
