Hi @Vedamurthy

Thanks for the question, there is a note on a change from SP16 for synthetic full backups:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.21/expert/92404_adding_automatic_schedule_for_synthetic_full_backup_to_backup_set_or_subclient_01.html

Note: Beginning with SP16, synthetic full backups no longer depend on incremental backups, and the Run Incremental Backup > Before Synthetic Full/After Synthetic Full option no longer appears in the Backup Options window for new schedules and schedule policies. However, the option will appear for existing schedules and schedule policies (that is, created in SP15 or earlier) that use the option.

So, this option no longer exists for new schedules.

Are you able to schedule an incremental backup before Synthetic Full? Timing these may be tricky and depends if you can predict the data growth and estimate the time required for incremental backups.

Otherwise, you could look at scheduling the incremental and then triggering the Synthetic Full either with a script or workflow?

Thanks,

Stuart

@Vedamurthy , what’s your ideal schedule for these clients?  As @Stuart Painter mentioned, you can no longer group both jobs into the same operation so you’ll need to set the Synthetic fulls to run at some point so they complete before the Synth full.

you can add bEnableSynthFullRunIncremental additional setting to get the option back

It’s CommServe scope, so you set it on the top-most object in the CommCell Console.
