Guest file restore from a VMware VM failing

Hi all,

I have a trial installation of Commvault all in one, in a VMware VM.

When trying to do a guest file restore from a VMware VM I am obtaining the following errors.

How should I do to rebuild index?

Could it be caused by a VMware configuration?  A snapshot on Commserve VM?

Which configuration on VMware could be blocking a mount for restore?

 

JobManager.log:

Unable to get index server information for client

Failed to create restore vector. Reason: Failed to mount: No valid node is available to perform a guest file restore of the chosen guest VM.

Hi Rajiv,

It is working now.

I think the problem was a configuration in vCenter.

This case can be closed.

You may be trying to do file restores for a VM running Linux while the VSA Access Node is Windows-based.   In that case, you will need to add a File Level restore enabler for Linux - this link offers a good overview of FREL use case.   With later releases, the VSA Linux access node can support file restores for Windows or Linux VMs, while the VSA Windows access node is still restricted to Windows.  In the All-in-One that is most commonly deployed on a windows host.  https://kb.commvault.com/article/63242?_gl=1*6h04u3*_gcl_au*MTAwMjI4NjIwNi4xNzMxNTI0OTg2

Hello ​@matisardi. I will assume the CS, media agent and the access node is all the same. You should check for any possible AV running on Commserve and also can you make sure you have the access nodes set on the VMware properties under virtual server backup set and the same access node is set on the subclient level?
